The Inaugural Post

Fags.
Those of you who know me know that there is one band that I hate above all others... that's right folks, I'm referring to Bon Jovi. Nothing irks me more than their inability to write even one good song in almost 30 years of "musicianship." A few years back I remember being particularly pissed off that "Have a Nice Day"got on the radio because it sounds just like "It's My Life," another song that just begs me to pierce my eardrum with a toothpick. Apparently Richie Sambora is only capable of playing one chord progression, and John Bon Giovanni's lyrical genius is hardly displayed in either or them. What happened to Tommy and Gina? Why weren't they mentioned in "Have a nice day?" Were they too busy not backing down? Both of these songs suck, as do all Bon Jovi songs, but the subject of this blog is a more recent song, entitled "Superman Tonight."

ST begins with a nice visual: "There's something about you/ I want to rescue/ I don't even know you/ So what does that mean?"
It means.... you're a fucking creep. He never goes on to say what it is about her (or him) that he wants to rescue, or why it is that he feels a perfect stranger needs rescuing. The song goes on to talk about stars falling from the sky (a ludicrous concept to anyone with even the slightest degree of celestial knowledge), holding this person when the lights are turned out (another extremely creepy thing to do to someone you don't know), and other absurd statements like "You're looking for a hero but that's just my old tattoo."

Basically friends, this song is stupid, makes little to no sense, is inaccurate on numerous levels, transcends creepiness, and overall just sucks. Bon Jovi blows, and this song is just another example why. Tune in next time for my thoughts on JGC.
